Emergency Garage Door Repair
Urgent attention for doors jammed open, stuck shut, or hanging out of square.
View serviceTaunton is the northeast growth area, bordered by farmland and the Oak Ridges Moraine, and it is 37 per cent built 2011 to 2016 and 33 per cent from 2006 to 2010, with nothing at all from before 1991. At 94 per cent single-detached it is the least varied housing mix in the city. Most subdivisions here went up in the 2010s on narrow lots with the garage dominating the frontage, which makes the doors wide, heavy and remarkably consistent from street to street.

Taunton is the northeast growth area, bordered by farmland and by the Oak Ridges Moraine, and it is the least varied housing mix in Oshawa: 94 per cent single-detached, with row housing at 2 per cent and semis at 1 per cent. It is predominantly upscale two-storey houses, most subdivisions built in the 2010s, with some bungalows among them. The construction figures are 37 per cent from 2011 to 2016, 33 per cent from 2006 to 2010, 20 per cent from 2001 to 2005 and 6 per cent in the 1990s, with nothing at all before 1991. Taunton Road runs along the southern edge with shopping and restaurant plazas on it.
A subdivision built in the 2010s on narrow lots puts the garage at the front of the house, and on many of these frontages the door is the largest single element the street sees. Wide doors on narrow lots produce two consequences worth naming. First, weight: a double-width insulated door is heavy, and the counterbalance is doing more work per cycle than anything in the older city. Second, uniformity: openings repeat across whole phases, so the panel, the track configuration and the spring size that fit one house very often fit the next. Diagnosis is quick here; what takes the time is confirming the specification rather than assuming it.
The recurring faults on 2000s and 2010s builder doors follow a predictable order. Springs specified to a nominal weight drift out of balance first, and on a wide door the symptom is racking rather than a straightforward sink. Rollers supplied as economy items wear next. Operator sensors and logic boards come after that. Panel damage is common simply because a wide door in a busy family driveway meets more vehicles than a single. Because the phases went up together, a household seeing a neighbour's spring fail should treat it as a reasonable prompt to have their own balance checked rather than as unrelated news.
Wide, heavy builder doors delivered in single phases put the counterbalance and the panels under the most load, and whole streets reach the same point at the same time.
