Emergency Garage Door Repair
Urgent attention for doors jammed open, stuck shut, or hanging out of square.
View serviceWindfields is the newest part of Oshawa and the youngest housing on this site: 56 per cent built between 2011 and 2016, 32 per cent from 2006 to 2010, nothing at all before 1991. It stands on the former Windfields Farm, the thoroughbred breeding operation once owned by GM Canada co-founder R. S. McLaughlin, and 61 per cent of its houses have four bedrooms or more. Development is ongoing, including the RioCan Windfields Farm project of 868 units and the UC Towers phases, so builder warranty is the first thing to check here.

Windfields is the newest ground in Oshawa and it stands on land with a specific history: the former Windfields Farm, the thoroughbred breeding operation once owned by R. S. McLaughlin, co-founder of General Motors of Canada. The houses are new, upscale and large, mostly two-storey, and 61 per cent of them have four bedrooms or more. The construction table has no depth at all before 1991: 56 per cent built between 2011 and 2016, 32 per cent from 2006 to 2010, 9 per cent from 2001 to 2005. Single-detached is 86 per cent with block townhouses at 13 per cent, and development is still ongoing, including a school.
Two projects keep the area changing. The RioCan Windfields Farm development at Winchester Road East and Simcoe Street North was under construction with 868 residential units by Tribute Communities, and UC Towers 2 and 3 — 27, 19 and three storeys of condominium and townhouse — are under construction on the east side of Simcoe Street North opposite the first UC Tower. For a household with a garage door problem, the age of the housing has one immediate implication: builder or Tarion warranty may still be live, and that should be checked before anyone pays for third-party work.
New does not mean faultless; it means the faults are different. Builder-hung doors on narrow-frontage lots are wide and heavy relative to the frontage, and a spring set specified to a nominal door weight rather than the actual one shows up as a door that sinks or climbs from the first winter. Safety sensor brackets get knocked out of alignment during landscaping and driveway work, which is a common cause of a door that reverses on a new house. Operator rails installed quickly sometimes sit slightly out of line with the door's centre, which the door tolerates for a while and then reports as noise and uneven wear. All three are adjustments rather than replacements.
On housing this new the recurring work is adjustment and warranty-adjacent correction — sensor alignment, spring specification and panel damage — rather than end-of-life replacement.
